We start with Breaking News (and I don’t use this term lightly), it was just posted on the 007 website, that Amazon MGM Studios Announces New Joint Venture with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Although the new terms mention that it is a joint-venture, the first line in the article mentions “Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise following closing of the transaction.”

What this will mean for the future of Bond is uncertain, but if anything it will probably mean more movies and other ‘content’.

This news broke only one hour before this newsletter was sent out, so I barely had time to process it and the full implications are not clear, but stay tuned!

Amazon MGM Studios takes full control of 007

Amazon MGM Studios, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today announced that they have formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights, and those parties will remain co-owners of the franchise.

Under the terms of the new venture, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise following closing of the transaction.
