Also today, Icons Unearthed: James Bond premieres on VICE TV. The show features lots of our fellow Bond friends and Bond actor George Lazenby.

Sir Roger Moore’s Personal Collection

The results are coming in for the Bonhams Roger Moore Personal Collection Sale that is taking place today. Two Backgammon sets (used on set while playing Cubby Broccoli) sold for £15,630 and £10,880 inc. premiums and at the time of sending of this newsletter, the auction was still going. Some of the lots were purchased by Sean Connery’s son Jason Connery who was in the room. ‘The Saint’ Volvo P1800 Corgi model sold for £3,840 inc. premium, more than 10 times its estimate. A Cyril Castle navy cashmere double-breasted Chesterfield coat made for Sir Roger Moore in Live And Let Die sold for £19,200 inc. premium.

The song played in the movie SkyFall by Silva when he’s about to attack Bond’s old home with a helicopter. Brings back the memories of this great scene!

Q. Which three Bond clothes or accessories do you wear the most?
A. I tend to lean towards the frugal versions of the Bond look, but I have a special place in my heart for my Slazenger golf jumper, and I still love my Sunspel Rivera Blue Polo and my Tommy Bahama Catalina Twill.

Q. If you could keep only 1 item of your Bond collection, what would it be?
A. I was fitted for a Turnbull & Asser shirt on Jermyn Street in London where I also purchased a few of the Brosnan-era ties. I think I’d be heartbroken if anything happened to them. Great sentimental value!

Q. What is your most popular post/video?
A. I’m always surprised by which videos get the most views! My Top 5 Rejected Bond Theme Songs is the runaway winner with 215k views, followed by Reviewing Octopussy at 117k. I’m always happy when my humble tributes to Bond performers who have left us gain a lot of views – Diana Rigg (over 50k) and Sean Connery (37k) both got warm receptions and a lot of wonderful comments.

Q. Which Bond location do you still want to visit?
A. Visiting Bond locations has easily been one of the most satisfying experiences of my life! So many I’d love to revisit. Still on the bucket list would be Greece, Istanbul, Monte Carlo, and a few more Italian locations. Also, I’ve heard amazing things about Mexico City!

Q. If you could meet any Bond actor (even if they’re no longer with us), who would that be and why?
A. I think Roger Moore would be my choice! He’s the Bond I grew up with, and it just seems like he’d be the most fun to eat and drink with while throwing in a few off-color stories.

Q. Which Bond-related song do you want to add to the Bond Lifestyle Spotify Playlist?
A. Speaking of rejected Bond theme songs: I’d say it’s a tie between two rejected Tomorrow Never Dies themes – one by Saint Etienne, and another by Swan Lee. Both are just amazing! [unfortunately not on Spotify but click the links for the songs on YouTube).

Q. Rolex or Omega?
A. When I finally cross that bridge, it’ll definitely be the Omega Seamaster from Casino Royale.
