New James Bond game announced

Plus two new product IDs!

Welcome to the new EYES ONLY newsletter.

I’ve added two new product identifications to the website - the yellow goggles worn by Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me are by SCOTT (with thanks to Shaun for this new ID). And I added an article about chess pieces seen in the same film.

Apple device users can look forward to a brand new James Bond video game: Cypher 007 will be released by the end of this month.

Make sure to read the wonderful interview on 007.com with costume designer Jany Temime who talks about her love of 007 and working with Daniel Craig on SkyFall and SPECTRE.

Don’t forget to enter the latest contest which ends midnight on September 8!

And scroll down for new songs in the Spotify playlist and a new Q&A.

FROM THE ARCHIVES

Church’s Ryder III chukka boots

In Quantum of Solace (2008) Daniel Craig as James Bond sports the Church Ryder III in dark brown suede with rubber soles.

The shoes are worn in Port Au Prince (Haiti) scenes. Daniel Craig is really channelling Steve McQueen with this outfit.

The Church’s Ryder III page was first published on the Bond Lifestyle website on 25 October 2008.

GAMES

Crescent Medieval Chessmen No. 18

In the pre-title sequence of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) the crew of British nuclear submarine HMS Ranger play a game of chess using Crescent Medieval Chessmen No. 18 pieces. These are still easy to find on eBay UK.

AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE

Casio MDV106

One of my favorite affordable alternatives is the Casio MDV106 watch. The overall look is slightly similar to the Omega Planet Ocean 2900.50.91 seen in Casino Royale, but it also has Rolex Submariner vibes. If you can’t find the MDV106, look for the new MDV107 version which doesn’t have the Merlin logo.

Where to Buy

United States
Find the Casio Duro MDV106-1AV on Amazon ($49), or take a look on eBay.

United Kingdom
MDV106: Available on eBay UK or on Amazon UK (£50)

MDV107 (without the Marlin logo): Available on Amazon UK

Germany
You can look on the German eBay.

You can also find the new MDV107 on the German Amazon website but it has a very long delivery period (up to 7 months).

Or read more about this and other affordable alternative watches.

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey
(Propellerheads mix)

Do you need some inspirational Bond music?
Follow the Bond Lifestyle EYES ONLY playlist on Spotify.
This list will be regularly updated with new Bond-related songs, selected by the Bond Community. If YOU have a suggestion, send me a message!

Newly added: Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey (Propellerheads mix)

I have added another Shirley Bassey mix, this time by the Propellerheads, an English electronic music duo who gained fame in 1997 by providing a remix for James Bond movie composer David Arnold's Bond tribute album “Shaken & Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project” covering John Barry's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". They also collaborated with Arnold on the track "Backseat Driver" for the soundtrack of the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
The Propellerheads also worked with Shirley Bassey on a remix of “History Repeating” and their song “Crash!“ was used in the 1999 hit comedy film Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Q&A

For this newsletter, we’re bringing Sam aka @bondupnorth into the MI6 interrogation room.

Sam is a lifelong Bond fan who enjoys living the Bond Lifestyle on a Budget.

Q. Which three Bond clothes or accessories do you wear the most?
A. I only have a couple of actual Bond Lifestyle items, as I generally like to search for ‘Budget Bond Alternatives’. The Sunspel Riviera is a must for the summer months, I plan on getting more colours in the next sale. My version of the Goldeneye Monaco outfit is worn very frequently at the office and the Quantum Cardigan outfit is one of my most worn looks when going out for dinner.

Q. If you could keep only 1 item of your Bond collection, what would it be?
A. The Q mug from Skyfall, whilst very inexpensive I use it all the time.

Q. What is your most popular post/video?
A. I created a reel on Instagram for when we tried the No.3 Vesper Martini that reached 10k views.

Q. Which Bond location do you still want to visit?
A. I would love to go on a driving trip around Scotland, stopping off to recreate the M & Bond image from Skyfall. That and naturally the Goldeneye resort in Jamaica.

Q. If you could meet any Bond actor (even if they’re no longer with us), who would that be and why?
A. If you could meet any Bond actor (even if they’re no longer with us), who would that be and why? Sir Roger Moore, I was lucky enough to attend one of his ‘An Evening With’ events, I could listen to his stories of Old Hollywood all day.

Q. Which Bond-related song do you want to add to the Bond Lifestyle Spotify Playlist?
A. ’Ladies First’, the track that plays whilst Bond & Xenia race each other in Monaco.

Q. Rolex or Omega?
A. One day the Goldeneye Seamaster will be in my collection.

Casino Royale locations in Czech

Bond fan Oscar Verpoort has once again made some incredible location photos on his Instagram - this time in the Czech Republic. The photos shown here were taken at Loket which is close to Karlovy Vary and doubles as a small town in Montenegro in Casino Royale.
