It has been a while since the last newsletter because I was travelling, including a trip to Sardinia and meeting up with Bond fans and friends Ajay Chowdhury and my fellow Dutchmen Jorrit van der Valk and Gosse Drent.

Fabergé has revealed a new, limited edition Goldfinger Egg Objet: a golden egg with gold bars and diamonds inside. The price is not mentioned, but it is probably astronomical.

Something more affordable and practical: Cool-Ray, the legendary 20th-century eyewear brand, returns, reviving its iconic sunglasses worn by Sean Connery in Thunderball.

Auction update: a Citroën 2CV driven by Roger Moore in For Your Eyes Only sold for a staggering $120,000 (+$30,000 auction costs) at Heritage Auctions last week.

Cool-Ray Thunderball sunglasses are back

Cool-Ray, the legendary 20th-century eyewear brand, returns, reviving the iconic sunglasses worn by Sean Connery in the 1965 James Bond film, Thunderball.

The timeless frame (ref. N135) has been recreated in collaboration with Sean Connery's tailor, Anthony Sinclair, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the classic film.

The Cool-Ray N135 are now available at The Ocularium for £175 / $244.

The new Fabergé x 007 Limited Edition Goldfinger Egg Objet is inspired by the Fort Knox gold depository safe

The front of the egg features a six-prong safe combination lock, anchored with 007 at the centre. If you open the safe, a stack of gold bars becomes visible, nestled inside and surrounded by 140 brilliant-cut yellow diamonds.

AUCTION UPDATE

For Your Eyes Only 2CV sells at auction

One of the 2CVs used in For Your Eyes Only sold for $150,000 at Heritage Auctions last week. It is the first Bond 2CV to be offered publicly. Even though many parts are not original, the history and exclusivity of the car proved to be enough to fetch this high price.
